Abusive People Hiding Behind Religion - It Should Be Illegal (489 hits)
Don't get me wrong, I feel having a relationship with God is important, but I don't like people pretending to be good people and throwing out that they go to Church in their defense.
Many abusers attempt to use religion to justify their actions. There was a man who had been very active in the Civil Rights Movement who is now in jail for raping many of the daughters that he had by different mothers throughout the country. He gave an off the wall religious reason for doing this to his own flesh and blood. This is an extreme example, but people like this do exist.
They had a man who had molested his own daughter on Dr. Phil. Of course he was trying to get a position working with children in a Church. Is anything safe these days?
You will often find some of the nastiest people hiding behind God and religion. For example, they will make a hateful comment to you and then turn around and tell you something like "God bless." They are in Church every Sunday and ruining lives every other day of the week. Someone like that doesn't care about anyone other than themselves, but they have the audacity to use the name of God. Why don't they just leave religion out of what they're doing? They think it gives them some sort of credibility, but it does not. The serial killer BTK held a high position within his Church, but he was murdering and killing whole families. There is a whole range of these types of people. They range from the verbally abusive to the rapist and serial killer.
Church attendance and knowing some verses of The Bible do not make you a good person or help you get into Heaven. It's what we do and how we treat people that matters.
ive been talking about this one since 2004.... but i blame LEADERSHIP.. the pastors.. bishops.. WHO KNOW about the mess and STILL allow the husbands to pray over folk.. minister etc... sit THEM DOWN.. talk to them.. counsel them.. they need help.. deliverance is a choice too... they have to WANT IT..
but leadership is too worried about how many elders are in the pulpit... bishops are worried about if i deal with it or someone finds out that i have this issue i may lose my title.. etc.... there so many titles in the body of christ now you end up REALLY forgetting folks REAL birth names when its down time and your saying pass the salt... because everyone wants to be addressed by their title.. whether God gave it to them or NOT.........
