Do you feel that some people take portions of the Bible and interpret it the way they want you to believe. (1125 hits)

I have heard the same scripture at different churches with a totally different meaning, or interpretation. Why is that? Why can't everyone be on the same page when it comes to scripture?

I am in my search for answers mode. I know I can go to the Bible, my Pastor, Bible Study, etc. However, it is not every day that I can ask hundreds of people at the same time this question. I really want to know if any of you have had this on your mind.

E,

Great response to start off what may be a rather interesting blog... and of course strap in for the point and counter-point that's about to begin. Sadly people inflexibility to see things with wider and more open eyes will have some entrenched in theolgy, other scream spirituality, and a few saying it's a shame that we cant at least agree that there just may be more than one way to the King or Queendom....

Sounds like your judging us like you have the one answer key in existence. Funny thing about test the writers produces multiple versions with multiple answer keys, so to ensure ALL get an opportunity to study, learn and show mastery of the subject matter. So if you have the sole answer key share it, but dont judge or state what we have wrong for asking a question. One would presume a minister would educate as would any other teacher, if a student has it wrong. I dont quote scripture because the TEST questions and answers comes from many text...

Absolutely with E- Private 100 percent. In addition to what E has said,
I would like to add that everyone has an agenda and a platform they want promoted and many times church folk quote scripture to lure and deceive innocent unsuspecting folk who really geniunely love God to .

I don't believe it is necessary in my opinion to quote scripture all the time especially when not all people believe in Christianity or read bibles. I think widom and discretion should be used. I think many religious folk are dull of thinking and don't have anything to add to conversations which is the reason some are quick to reference scripture or fall back on their religion.

Just talk plain talk is what I say & the minute people start throwing out scripture to buttress their points, I run for the door! Afterall Satan quoted scripture to Jesus.

Felicia I wasn't talking about anyone specific, but if the shoe fits--then I guess you should wear it!

Sister Felicia, Women of God, continue to bless us as "readers and receivers" as you "stand" in your God given wisdom ! Girl, you could not have explained or worded "God's expressions" of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ more plainly!
The Harvest is "Ripe"! We now view "seeds and soil types"! Thank God today!
I was on the receiving side, ending up reading and being fed from a powerful spiritual move of God, poured from you, vesseled only to "complete workers" of the spirit. At such Sister Felicia, others are aloud to say "Amen", as we " work the work"! I can do nothing but praise the Lord for the understanding I received from "HIM" and knowing we are not alone! "Holy Ghost Spirituality" is nothing "Private"! Thank you Jesus! Yes, I am able to agree with you and say, AMEN!, Touching in Faith, Minister E. L. Thomas (PELT)

Wow, I really am disheartened by some of these blogs. I've read but not responded to the many blogs on this subject because I think it's kind of silly. Sometimes the tone of these blogs sound a bit hostile. Of course, people can take scripture and intrepret it differently from someone else. People twist the word all the time. And it's not always intentional and about someone having an agenda. There have been times when I thought I understood a scripture or how God does something and the Holy Spirit would gently tell me that I had it wrong. And God himself would teach me the truth! Understanding the Bible requires a lot of study and guidance of the Holy Spirit. And I'm so tired of the arguement of you can't believe every word of the Bible because it's written by man. I believe that is insulting to God. Because I believe that He wouldn't have allowed anything that was false to be placed in the Bible. He is all-powerful and all-knowing. And Felicia, I agree with you. Personally if a person doesn't mention Jesus then I tune out.

Has this site suddenly become a Christian Only site?

Now why would you say that? This is only 1 blog of many. As you already know, people post blogs on various subjects. People will respond from many different points of view. And that's great as long as everyone is respectful. The problem I have is when someone's comments are disrepectful just because they disagree with another person's comments.

They(Man) may not have the same interpretation of the BIBLE but as long as you have the word in hand and GOD in your soul he will answer/confirm all!! Wishing you nothing but choice blessings!
