"African American women may want to take a long-term attitude when investing in the stock market. For example, you may or may not want to move all of your stock investments ( or mutual funds) to a conservative investment just because you are reaching retirement age. Instead, to offset inflation and maintain your purchasing power, you may want to have a portion of your portfolio remain more aggressive after your retirement." I hear you. I believe in the parable of the Talents ( Matthew 25:14-30); financial increase, Investments. If I had received this type of teaching and training earlier in life, I would have been much better of I'm sure. However, it is always better late than never. Unfortunately, many African Americans have not understood the idea of working smarter instead of harder and I'm guilty until now. We shun the idea of building a network of assets to work for us. However, I've learned that "Life Events" knows no boundaries either. What happens when you cannot work? Are you still getting paid and if so for how long? Hummmmmm!
