In my email I received an interesting bit of information from a 15 years old golfer from Atlanta, George. She has won 34 of 45 Junior Golf Tournaments and has been featured on The Golf Channel. Her name is Zakiya Randall and was the news story in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Newspaper article on May 25, 2006. She was the overall Georgia PGA Junior Tour of 2005 and qualified for the U. S. Women’s Open Sectional Qualifiers to be played in June 5-13. She earned this honor by shooting a 74 as low-medalist at Horseshoe Bend Country club in Roswell, Georgia. If she advances the U. S. Women’s Open will be held at Newport Country Club in Newport, R.I. on June 29 to July 2, 2006.

With this article was a note to check out her web site at http://www.zakiyarandall.com. I found her web site was a well developed site. Pictures of young 15 years old Zakiya along with some of her trophies are featured on this site. The web site gives more information about this natural athlete as she has been playing golf for four years. She was into tennis before but found golf much to her liking. She loves all sports and decided she wanted to become a pro-golfer like Tiger Woods and Michelle Wie and has pictures of all her favorites posted on her bedroom walls. She hopes to become a golfer on a College team just like Tiger.

Other news items listed on the Web site was in April she appeared on the Tom Joyner Morning Show and focused on her great success and wins as an amateur. In November 2005 she appeared on the Golf Cannel with Sergio Garcia displaying her golfing talents. In the summer of 2005 was in African American Golfer’s Digest featured as a dynamo Teen sensation. In August 2005 she was featured in the Atlanta Tribune saying she was on the “brink of celebrity status”. Very impressive for a young girl as we are sure to hear much more about this very talented golfer

Zakiya has recently joined the PGA Hole-in-One club by acing the Par 3, 180 yards which is always a thrill. She has been recognized by several Pro golfers and has had her pictures with them on her web site, Sergio Garcia, Steward Cink, Calvin Peete, Lee Elder and Christ Tucker who all recognized her many accomplishments. I will be watching to see if she makes it to the LGA U. S. Open Championship this June. Good Luck to you Zakiya I wish you the best and keep those dreams alive you will succeed. Thanks to who ever sent this article to me as I greatly appreciate hearing about this young lady? We will be watching and waiting for this new star to arrive in the LPGA.
