WereWorthIt.com Partners With Hour Children to Empower Incarcerated Moms & Families (936 hits)


For Eton and Margarette Lacon, the husband and wife entrepreneurial duo behind new lifestyle company WEREWORTHIT.COM, corporate good works are more than just about contributing a donation to a worthy cause. The Queens, NY- based company, has just teamed up with the family service organization Hour Children (www.hourchildren.org) for a unique series of self-help workshops and seminars. Hour Children provides permanent and transitional housing, and supportive services for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women and their families.

"It's a perfect fit for us at WEREWORTHIT.COM," says Eton. "Our philanthropic philosophies and goals are similar. We want to aid in improving the self esteem of the women and children to help them better improve their lives from this day forward."

On July 25th at Hour Children (36-11A 12th St., Long Island City, NY 11106) the two entities will launch "We're Hour Children...And We're Worth It!" a quarterly event WEREWORTHIT.COM will sponsor throughout the year as well as participate in. The cornerstone of' "We're Hour Children...An We're Worth it" are three- 30 minutes programs featuring an empowerment workshop led by Eton. The workshop will focus on such issues as: 1) Self Esteem- I'm Worth It; 2) Career- Public Relations As An Empowerment Tool; and 3) Motivation - Let's Talk About It.

The partnership began when WEREWORTHIT.COM made a donation of baby bibs featuring WEREWORTHIT.COM's signature affirmation: "I'm Worth It." After further discussions with the dedicated people behind Hour Children, WEREWORTHIT.COM wanted to increase its involvement, "we decided there was more we could do," says Eton. "We at WEREWORTHIT.COM want to do our part in improving lives and the world around us."

WEREWORTHIT.COM plan to touch even more people with it positive message as the company recently received its official New York City Business Certification MBE as a minority owned business. This certification open new avenues, such as placed WEREWORTHIT.COM items in schools via contracts with various city and federally run agencies. "As a newly certified company, one of our first goals is to expand our reach to New York City schools," says Eton. "Children have negative images about themselves and spreading the message of self-esteem and self empowerment to young adults is one of our missions."

Launched in 2006, WEREWORTHIT.COM is a multifaceted merchandising company featuring environmentally friendly tees and other products with positive messages of self-worth and a philanthropic component. The products produced by WEREWORTHIT.COM all feature positive affirmations such as "I'm Worth It!" "Just three simply words can do so much for a person's self esteem," says Eton on the motivation to launch WEREWORTHIT.COM. "When a person is having a difficult time or just in the course of a regular day, just being reminded 'I'm Worth It!' can make all the difference."

With an eye to also protecting the environment, WEREWORTHIT.COM offers earth-friendly T-shirts made with 100% organic cotton. "We need to not only take care of ourselves but our planet," notes Eton. Other products from WEREWORTHIT.COM include coffee mugs and baby bibs. WEREWORTHIT.COM merchandise is currently sold on the Internet and at local street fairs. The Lacons will be expanding the line to include hats, school bags, jewelry, jackets, umbrellas, etc. and making the line available in popular stores, Barneys New York, Bloomingdales and Macys. WEREWORTHIT.COM donates 5% of the sale of each T-shirt to the Center For Disease Foundation.

WEREWORTHIT.COM encourages is customers to use the slogan; "I'm Worth It" it's a daily affirmation, no matter the circumstance and/or mood to Renew, Rejuvenate and Revitalize the spirit. Eton sums it up: "It's simply empowerment."
