WHAT: The National Eucharistic Pilgrimage
WHEN: Saturday, June 8, 2024
WHERE: Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception Eucharistic Procession immediately following.
We are calling for volunteers to help host the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage, as it stops in Washington DC.
Our theme is Walk with Jesus: To Jesus Through Mary.
The pilgrimage consists of a Mass immediately followed by a Eucharistic Procession through the surrounding Brookland neighborhood. At the same time, a stationary pilgrimage for those with limited mobility will also happen at the St. John Paul II National Shrine. Additional details of the schedule are below.
We need Altar Servers, Catholic Scouting Troops, and Ministers of Hospitality.
Altar Servers (boys and girls) are needed for the Procession. Altar servers must bring their own server vesture, either an alb and cincture or cassock and surplice. The Basilica cannot provide these items for servers on that day. Altar servers will walk in the procession and some will carry candles, incense, and the crucifix.
Catholic Scouting Troops (boys and girls) are needed for the walking Procession. Scouts will wear their uniforms as they help lead the procession, walking behind the altar servers. They will lead the participants and may assist in other ways as needed.
Ministers of Hospitality are needed to assist at Mass (Basilica) and with the two Processions (the walking procession and the stationary pilgrimage at the Pope John Paul II Shrine). Ministers of Hospitality will greet people, distribute handouts, help guide the pilgrims, and support with other duties as needed.
Estamos convocando a voluntarios para ayudar a organizar la Peregrinación Eucarística Nacional, que se realizará en Washington DC. Nuestro tema es Caminar con Jesús: Hacia Jesús a través de María. La peregrinación consiste en una Misa el sábado 8 de Junio de 2024 en la Basílica del Santuario Nacional de la Inmaculada Concepción, seguida de una Procesión Eucarística por el vecindario de Brookland. Al mismo tiempo, también se realizará una peregrinación estacionaria para personas con movilidad limitada en el Santuario Nacional de San Juan Pablo II. Detalles adicionales del cronograma se encuentran a continuación.
Necesitamos Monaguillos, Scouts Católicos y Ministros de Hospitalidad.
Monaguillos: (niños y niñas) son necesarios para la Procesión. Los monaguillos deben traer su propia vestidura de servidor, ya sea alba y cíngulo o sotana y sobrepelliz. La Basílica no puede proporcionar estos artículos a los servidores ese día. Los monaguillos caminarán en la procesión y algunos llevarán velas, incienso y el crucifijo.
Scouts Católicos: (niños y niñas) para la Procesión a pie. Los scouts usarán sus uniformes mientras ayudan a dirigir la procesión, caminando detrás de los monaguillos. Ellos guiarán a los participantes y pueden ayudar de otras maneras según sea necesario.
Ministros de Hospitalidad: para ayudar en la Misa (Basílica) y en las dos Procesiones (la procesión a pie y la peregrinación estacionaria en el Santuario del Papa Juan Pablo II). Los Ministros de Hospitalidad saludarán a la gente, distribuirán folletos, ayudarán a guiar a los peregrinos y apoyarán con otras tareas según sea necesario.
