HOW FDA EXPANDS RECALL ON BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICATION: LOSARTAN! (3569 hits)
For Immediate Release From The Food and Drug Administration!
The Food and Drug Administration is again expanding its recall of widely prescribed blood pressure drugs due to contamination (https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/fda-once-again-expands-recall-blood-pressure-drugs-n1023446) with a cancer-linked chemical.
Monday's announcement (https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts/updated-torrent-pharmaceuticals-limited-expands-voluntary-nationwide-recall-losartan-potassium-0) targets an additional five lots of the generic drug losartan made by Torrent Pharmaceuticals Limited. The lots include losartan potassium (https://www.walmart.com/search/?query=potassium&irgwc=1&sourceid=imp_ShfVx1V7VxyJTRVwUx0Mo3YRUknx0oXuNWnP0o0&veh=aff&wmlspartner=imp_27795&clickid=ShfVx1V7VxyJTRVwUx0Mo3YRUknx0oXuNWnP0o0) tablets and losartan potassium/hydrochlorothiazide tablets.
The recalled lots contain trace amounts of N-methylnitrosobutyric acid, or NMBA, which has been linked to cancer.
