The College of Arts and Sciences was recently awarded a grant from the American Association of University Women (AAUW) to create a Campus Action Project (CAP) for the university community featuring creative activism projects that empower women and girls. #hearmelead —The Women’s Leadership Project @ UDC was the result!
This spring, more than 50 students have participated in this student-led program. These women have engaged in bi-weekly spoken word workshops, where they use their voices to deliver stories of triumph through team building activities modeled after UDC’s Creative Writing Program.
To showcase their hard work and celebrate the success of this program, we would like to extend a very special invitation to the UDC community (faculty, students, and staff) to come out and join us for a spoken word performance by the women in this program. The performance will take place on Friday, April 28th at 7pm in the UDC Theater of the Arts, 4200 Connecticut Ave, NW, WDC 20008….with a reception to follow
