Use the Election to Tap Into Calm and Peace (2053 hits)

Yes, the presidential emotional climate with all the vitriol is stressful and wearing.
However, you can use it to tap into peace and happiness already inside of you.

In fact, the campaigns and their rhetoric can actually help you get into alignment with your Higher Self.

It can teach you to tune into yourself to relieve stress. During your normal busy day, you may not be aware of what is stressing you out. You may simply feel out of sorts without knowing why. However, observing the blaming and untruths in this election, you know it’s what is wearing on you.

Identifying the Source of Your Stress Is Key

Think of it this way. When a tiny pebble is in your shoe, you may keep walking because it’s not enough to stop, sit, and empty your shoe. You think, “I don’t have the time.” In fact, you may get used to it being there and ignore the irritant. Nevertheless, it’s something gnawing on your nerves.

If there is a sizable rock in your shoe like the election grabbing your attention, you know you are tuned into it.

When you are reading or viewing the news, you can feel it stressing you out. This leads to you doing something about it, like turning away from election coverage to stop your suffering. So you are aware.

The election is a teachable moment to be aware of how you feel about any and everything that is keeping you stressed just like you are aware of this race.

That’s how you live in the moment. Just being mindful of the source, relieves tension. I am often reminded of the first law of science, “Whatever is observed, changes.”

I find I have to do this several times during the course of the day, when I feel my body tensing, and I don’t know why. Stopping and taking the time, for just a few minutes to tune into myself and listen to the stuff going on in my head, like election coverage, helps me to immediately identify the source of my pain, and that is gold!

Many people don’t know why they are angry, frustrated or depressed, so they engage in habits to try to cover up their feelings. Now they still have the bad feelings, and a habit energy they don’t want like engaging in over drinking, excessive shopping etc., to handle.

How to Get Back Into Balance

Taking the time to stop and ask yourself, “What’s going on with me right now?” and What am I feeling or thinking?” are ways to master your mind.

If you don’t know what is stressing you out, simply name the feeling.

Take a few deep breaths than normal, and imagine those breaths coming in and out of your heart.

Breathing into your heart, quickly dissociates you from the stuff going on in your mind that keeps you worried and afraid.

The mind wants to quickly take over again, so it’s important not to fight it. Simply send your mind and thoughts love. Next think of a happy, feeling you have experienced before. A vacation, an interaction with person, or a pet. Feel that energy. Allow your mind to relax into that space and relief.

Let those happy, relaxing feelings come forward. These are your natural states that have been covered over with toxic thoughts and beliefs. The great news, is they want to leave.

Rinse and repeat the process often to become the master over your mind, instead of it mastering you.
