Discussion One (Book Formats) (187 hits)

Books are not only written in different genres today; those genres are available in different formats. This makes for great customer service, right. We can get our books the way we want them. From the hardbacks that we love to touch and feel, to the ebooks we can read on our devices. I like both; I love to feel a hardback or softback book in my hands. However, I also love the convenience of reading on my tablet when I am on the go.
So as a new writer; I want my books accessed both ways. That meant for me publishing in both formats. This also meant learning how to publish in those formats. Teaching myself how to format pages for digital and print book format. Learning about pixels, hyperlinks, and so much more. When you are doing everything yourself, you need to learn how to make even a book cover.
Now if I had used or submitted my work to a publishing company, the assumption is they would have done all of this for me. However, there was no guarantee that a company would pick up my book. Also, I kept thinking, why not self-publish. So I did it and have no regrets. My plan is to keep doing it this way and improving with each book.
