BlackLivesMatter Leader Caught Up in Scandal After Reporter UnEarths Photo of His White Father (1005 hits)
In a situation eerily similar to that of former NAACP chapter leader Rachel Dolezal, recent reports indicate that a leading activist in the #BlackLivesMatter movement is, in reality, white.
A document obtained by Breitbart from the Kentucky Office of Vital Statistics seems to indicate that activist Shaun King – despite his repeated references to a bi-racial heritage – is in fact entirely white.

Investigative blogger Vicki Pate has also conducted research on King, and was the first to report that King’s father, whom King has said was black, is also white.
Pate identified a man born on November 11, 1955, in Campbell, Kentucky, who’s been the subject of multiple drug offenses. His birthday “would make him 23 at the time of Shaun King’s birth, the same age given on Shaun’s birth certificate.” Here he is in a 2007 police mug shot:

In addition, Pate claims she has found a connection between the man pictured above and Shaun King via Shaun’s brother, Kentucky Air Guard Russ King, “who is also clearly caucasian.”
On Wednesday, The Daily Beast also reported the story, writing:
“Kentucky public records reviewed by The Daily Beast show that King’s father is white. Jeffery Wayne King, born November 11, 1955, is listed as Shaun King’s father on his birth certificate. Criminal records identify Jeffrey King’s ethnicity as white.”
If these allegations are correct, Shaun’s family does, indeed, appear to be white.

Pate explained the motivation behind her research:
“Writing these blogs and researching Shaun has nothing to do with being a ‘right wing racist’, it has to do with exposing a man who has manufactured a life based on lies and manipulation – and he’s not hurting only himself…he’s hurt a lot of other people.”
King is a staff writer for Daily Kos, where he often covers topics related to race.

King has also made repeated references to being a victim of racially-motivated crime:
I quickly found myself in the middle of decades old racial tensions and became the focus of constant abuse of the resident rednecks of my school…
A few months later, a group of guys in the school beat me within a few inches of my life. I missed the next 18 months of school recovering from three spinal surgeries and fractures to my face and ribs.
Interestingly, King has also been the recipient of a generous scholarship from Oprah Winfrey.

Winfrey has been a long-time supporter of traditionally black Morehouse College, often granting scholarships to young black men in need. King was a recipient of just such a scholarship.
Oprah Winfrey paid my way through Morehouse. The leadership scholarship that I received from her is why I have a college degree today. Five hundred other brothers have the exact same story.
King has posted a series of 36 tweets defending himself against the allegations:
He refutes Breitbart’s claim that he was never in a car accident:
He compares the accusations against him to the ‘Birther’ movement that plagued President Obama:
He explains his family’s heritage:
He believes his calling is more important than the harsh criticism he’s receiving:
