Hopkins was chosen as the first Black County Director of DeSoto by the The DeSoto Board of Supervisors. The 43 year old and former director of planning for Jackson, Mississippi will be taking on his new job election beginning June 01, 2015. In tune he's be compensated with a great salary of $75,000 a year. Hopkins is a well round entreprenur as well and operates his own consulting firm in Jackson, MS. Hopkins was among three finalists and chosen from 15 other applicants for the position. The Board of Supervisors thought it was a good choice, and along with adding diversity to the county operations. "I look forward to futhering the progress that's been made in DeSoto County.." quoted Hopkins in a local Memphis Newspaper article. "It's a tremdous opportunity" also stated Hopkins.
Guess that was his c'est tout dire smile... I reckon there not much else to say about that.

It's a piggyback of smiles as the Memphis in May large attended Bar-be-Q contestants made their hall with smoking grills down by the riverside. There was their annual Miss Piggy contest and of course Thursday and Friday, May 14 and 15, 2015 will have the judges taste testing and have to make it their c'est tout dire smiles making that one decision to choose the winners. However, this year they added also a kick off race and they'll be selling some fine bar-be-q menus as well. This annual event attracts thousands and this year is no different as it's already begun and is wounding up with a chosen winner who'll be casting their bar-be-q in the record books with past winners.
Who can really say enough about eatin' bar-be-que? I can see that look on real faces, that wouldn't have anythang to add. That'll be enough said. "I thank so..."

HIGH SCHOOLS COMPETE FOR BEST MUSICAL AWARDS
AT THE ORPHEUM AND AVENUE Q TOOK IT TO HOMETOWN

3O schools competed for the region in the Orpheum's 6Th annual High School Musical Awards. It could be more said, but to round it all up "Avenue Q" presented at Cordova High School was named outstanding overall production. With the outstanding actor award going to Maclean Mayers who played Ed Bloom in "Big Fish" at Germantown High School, and winner Erica Peniger won outstanding lead actress from Hernando High School. All the winners were critiqued on their famously good performances by five judges.
Everybody was smiling that won...DU...UGH! Anyway, it was topped off with a c'est tout dire smile as the picked up awards and left the stage! LOL!

As world news spread of the passing of Blues Great B.B. King on May 14, 2015. Memphis had it's recognition by Mayor A.C. Wharton of naming Tuesday, May 12,2015 as B.B. King'S Day. The Mayor urged well-wishers to take get-well cards to the Benjamin L. Hooks Library. King passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2015 after being in hospice care at his home in Las Vegas. King was 89 years of age. The legendary Blues Singer is noteworthy of singing the blues and his most popular form of guitar playing.
B.B. has said enough, may his bright smile and memory of well wishers never have enough to say. A moment of silence....

HE GOT ON SATURDAY!

City Councilman Berlin Boyd was injured in a motorcyle accident over last weekend while riding his Harley-Davidson home aroun 11:45 on Saturday, May 9, 2015. He was transported to the Regional Medical Center with a non-critical knee injury which he said may require surgery. However, with discontent Boyd was not smiling when he got the ticket for failure to maintain a safe lookout and expired tags.
He's not to joyful about that ticket, and there may not be enough said, and he may flash a c'est tout dire smile when it's turn in court... I think that'll look more like a smirk!
