CIVICS AND GOVERNMENT : WHAT MANY DON'T KNOW (1208 hits)
COMMENTARY:
During the recent Congress control of Republican House seats sparked a mental note just how much isn't known by United States functions of the branches of government. There is the Constitution which sets up, defines and protects basic rights of Americans. All course of facts lead to the amendment of change or an addition the Constitution. If natural born Americans were to take the US Citizenship test I think perhaps many of them would fail. However, there are the rights or freedom in the First Amendment. What is that? What's to know I can possible hear some silent thoughts> This Amendment allows rights to speech, religion, assembly, press and to petition the government. However, we all hear of the First Amendment not knowing perhaps there are 27 more! You may be among many who don't know the branches of government. These you hear in many daily news events they sound like Congress, legislative, President, executive, the courts and judicial. And who is that make those federal laws we have to obey, well it's through Congress, Senate and House {of Representatives. and U.S or national laws of legislature. Keep in mind there are two parts of the U.S. Congress if you can name them you are one of the lesser number of citizens who can name them. Even though I have already given you a clue. As government of the United States allows the voting rights understanding how it works is also the rights of a its citizens.
Keep in mind now that Republicans now control more seats in Congress it may pep up your curiosity to what it may mean in laws they'll present; or how many Senators are there in the U.S? Right now the Republicans of Congress are working on approving the controversial Keystone XL pipeline. The President said he will Veto. So if you know your Civics and American government functions. You'll certainly understand what a Veto does.
Let's face it, many of the newer generations born here in America are very possible unfamiliar with the government terms and meanings they too are Americans,
Keep up this teaching ministry Sister Bride because many of us don't have a clue how The United States Government works and frankly don't care until there benefits get cut, then they want to at the President in a negative light.
It is room for this kind of ministry of Civics of Government.
It's true Deacon there is a great need to understand at least the basics of government. I realized I also learned a few things in my brief encounter of research. Thank you. :)
