FRANCE'S SECULAR LAW SAYS: AWAY WITH THE MANGER! (1391 hits)

DAY 07
YOUR WORLD RELIGIOUS NEWS
DECEMBER 2014
La Roche-Sur Yon, FR
December 04, 2014

A public display of the Nativity Scene will be taken away. In France there is a law which bans any public display of religious figures.

Recently, in the town of La Roche-Yon, France a judge issued the order the disappearance of a public display featuring the Nativity of Jesus. The judge called the display a "religious emblem" and said that it's presence was against French principle of "religious neutrality in public spaces."

The desk size manger was erected in the local city council building was removed, however the a local Senator said the whole idea is grotesque. France adopted laws of secularism with principles of the French Republic in 1905. The law does not permit any public displays of religious nature in schools, public buildings, or state or city's buildings. The Senator said he would appeal, but agrees the buildings were built in 1980's and if the display remained he would be making an illegal act of disobedience.

MANY WILL HAVE TO

It may be an insult to Christians, but maybe they don’t want to give the impression that they are making Christianity the mandatory practice for the season. We don’t realize just how many people go into a state of depression during the holidays. Maybe those suffering from depression will begin to think different thoughts, when they see that they are not alone and they can survive without the fantasy of pretending everything’s ok .

@Helen

I understand the holidays are not a happy and joyous occasion for hundreds of people who suffer depression, and too I know many Christians are among them. Speaking of my own personal experience with depression among holidays I dealt with it and gain stronger faith in the Lord that my joy was returned. Every person handles depression differently. Fantasy or not, holidays will not change their depressed state. I feel it will take the Holy Lord to heal them. Truly, I understand the separation of church and state when it comes to religious bans. However, to idolize Santa can add to depression that all is well either. There is little spiritual escape and the depressed may have even more grieving thoughts. Often time depression is a state of mind and one can work to change the heart to be happy so that the mind can find the freedom of a joyous time. Letting go of sadness and worry...is a new birth of oneself.

What child can face the fact that most parents aren’t able to afford celebrating Xmas like those seen on television? When children hear the same message repeated over and over and over again, it can be very difficult for them to accept your inability to play Santa. You can't spend beyond your means. The spell of holiday depression is broken when we refuse to be negatively controlled mentally, emotional and physically.
