YOUR WORLD NEWS DAY 2 DECEMBER 2014 New South Wales, Australia
With 24 million people in Australia 2.5% of them are with Indigenous People. However, the current constitution of the state does not include the 2.5% of the Indigenous people. In an effort to right a wrong a new law is being revised to include them in the state's constitution. The progress of and date of the new constitution is still unknown, but the process is in motion to rectify and include the percentage of Aboriginal people. Years of being restricted from the constitution has left many of the population, in poor health and with less education with little employment opportunity. New South Wales Premier encourages the change and encourages other state and territory leaders to do the same. In the effort is overcome racism and offer better life to the native people of the Aborigine. The goal is to change.
"It is an important part of who we are, it is an important part of our history."...."This should not be about politics, It's about inspiring the nation to right a wrong." --Mike Baird, NWS Premier
