Alkaline or Organic Food, Does It Matter Which One We Choose? (1064 hits)
The newly released book Sojourn to Honduras Sojourn to Healing says yes.
It talks about the importance of knowing whether food is alkaline (natural) or organic. It says a paradigm shift is needed. A shift from focusing exclusively on organic foods to one that focuses on alkaline food. Learning the difference between alkaline and organic will benefit Black families on so many levels because right now there's a belief that if you eat only organic food, you'll be fine. Not necessarily. Organic rice, potatoes, corn and beans are high in starch and they are not alkaline, which means these foods harm your immune system and reproductive organs if eaten over long periods of time.
Alkaline food (natural food) has a pH rating of 7.0 and above. Yet the predominate diet of Black families includes food well below 7.0, such as bread, rice, sugar, corn, dairy. These foods have pH ratings well below 7.0. Yogurt, which is on the rise in Black women's diets, is 4.0. Garlic is 2.9.
I'd like to suggest Sojourn to Honduras Sojourn to Healing: Why An Herbalist's View Matters More Today Than Ever Before. It is one of the few books that tells a story about the need to focus on alkaline food. For more information visit www.sojourntohonduras.com Thank you
