The Lady Is A Leader & She Values Her Time (1069 hits)

Happy Thanksgiving

During this time of year, if we are not careful, we will allow ourselves to become caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holidays. I truly love the holiday season, but I also value the time God has given me, and the tasks which are placed in my life.

I have heard the comment "I ran out of time" on several occasions from various people. Each time I hear it, I want to literally shake the person and speak into their life, as the scripture says in Romans 2:11, "God is no respecter of persons..." God has given each of us the same amount of time, however it is up to us to value, respect and honor the time given. We are held accountable to be the best manager of the time given us.

Habakkuk 2:2

“...Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it..."

One of the most effective skills in time management is scheduling. Make a conscious effort to value the precious commodity schedulecalled time which has been given to each of us; a schedule gives you a template of your day. Mind you, during that day you may need to massage that schedule because we all know, 'life happens'! However if at least have a format of what your day should look like it removes the element of chaos.

Another vital tool is understanding and embracing your value. The definition of value I chose to discuss is "a person's principles or standards of behavior; one's judgment of what is important in life." (Merriam-Webster dictionary.com) Celebrating a standard of behavior which notates excellence. When your standard is not delivering on time, and your standard is constantly being late with projects, assignments or tasks, you lose credibility. This cause potential clients to feel as though they are unimportant, and lack value in your life.

As stated earlier, this is the time of year, where if we are not careful we will become consumed with the elements of the holidays. Therefore, it is essential to have a foundational plan. Construct this plan in a manner which does not build unhealthy constraints. I learned the lesson years ago that once you design a plan that is extremely rigid, it causes you to want to become unnecessarily anxious to complete the tasks outlined.

prayerI began to seek the Lord diligently, because I didn't want to take for granted the gifts with which I've been blessed, nor did I want to not take into consideration the element or commodity of time placed within my hands. What worked for me was "writing the vision". You may say this sounds simple, but until you actively and purposely write what's in your heart, it remains a great dream with no platform.

I also had to learn in writing my vision, I had to write it with clarity, I had to make the vision "plain." In order to write this vision, I had to seek God to allow me to understand what He wanted me to do. It's vital to gain spiritual understanding and Godly wisdom in each plan, design and strategy.

Lastly, as I granted myself the "time" to formulate my assignment from God, I was then able to articulate it to others. God has given me an awesome assignment which is to "go ye", therefore I've got to be cautious, careful, prayerful, and recognize the "value" of the time, which has been invested in me. I believe as you read this you too shall seek the Lord, for a plan or design so that you may use your gift of time with a greater sense of value.
