With growing tensions and controversy of missing students Angel Aguirre resigned post as mayor of Iguala last following alleged orders that he may be connected in the nature of their disappearances. Since then Aguirre and his wife along with the chief of police have been on the run. Witness who claim they say the students being bundled in police cars before their strange disappearance. In Septemeber, the disappearing students were part of a protests involving discrimination of recruitment practices, and to collect funds for their college the same day the former mayor and his wife were in the town of Iguala. Since then a mass manhunt and search for the students has led to no finding. Speculation has it that the former mayor may have ordered the students to be killed and buried in a mass grave.
Now a new interim governor will replace the former governor. He is Rogello Ortega, the head of a local university. The new interim governor will serve term of at least one year.
