Hurricane Gonzalo's direct blow was survived with the islanders of Bermuda only receiving minor injuries . In prepartion of the blow residents prepared listening to forecasts and weather information were set in waiting as the stormed approached on Friday, October 17, 2014. Early before the hurricane's visit residents took precautions to seal windows up and tie everything they could down. However, Gonzalo still left many with power outages and rocked down some trees. At least 32,000 residents were without power, but most were restored by late Saturday, October 18, 2014. Along with Gonzalo's stormy winds, rains and flooding clean-up began almost immediately. The hurricane's was one of it's strongest in almost 10 years. In addition, the residents was also recovering for a smaller strong storm before Gozalo arrived.
