Hot lava and ash spewed unexpectant hikers on Mt. Ontake on September 27, 2014. Since it's unexpectant visit to blow at least 36 or more lives were taken by it's arrival. Rescuers and emergency help were hindred by the hot ash and lava in order to save those still alive. As this report, at least 40 people are still reported as missing. The Japanese officials said they had no warning of the volcano's activity and it's fierce eruption was not preventable. Efforts to search and save lives is ongoing and conditions are hazardous. The volcano has been quiet and hasn't erupted since 1979. Mt. Ontake is located 25 miles outside Tokoyo.
