Signature Fragrance of Christ: Beauty of the Lord (315 hits)
Most parents keep their kids active and involved in extracurricular educational activities and sports to keep them out of trouble, to foster a fit and healthy life, to build character, to put them at an advantage over peers and more. I’m all for that as I do the same for my son. We tell them to keep rooms clean, do homework, stay in school, treat people how they want to be treated and a host of other parenting do’s for our kids. However, we must keep in mind our little bundles of joy need spiritual do’s as well. We are given the honor of being parents and are given the divine order of training them up in the way that they should go. In doing this we must not only lead by example, but specifically give them a spiritual mandate that will bring God glory and advance the kingdom. Parents are to charge or give specific spiritual direction to their children as the wise King Solomon in 1 Chronicles 28:9 (NKJV), “ Know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts and understands the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever. Verse 10. Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary; be strong and do it.”
•Know God:intimately, means to have relationship with Him •Serve Him •Serve Him with a loyal heart •Serve Him with a willing mind •Seek Him (look for God with every part of your being) •Know who you are (the Lord has chosen you) •Know why he chose you…to build, invent, create, something that will bless other people and bring glory to Him •Be strong (you are not weak, don’t be a punk, you are strong in the Lord and in the power of His might) •Do it (no excuses of situation, money, upbringing, past mistakes…) 1 Chronicles 28:20
Don’t just give the little ones something earthly to do with extracurricular activity, give them spiritual charge. It’s a great responsibility being a parent (especially if you are a single mommy), but it's also very rewarding. All the blood, sweat and tears are worth it because one day, we will behold and be scented in beauty of the Lord, in seeing how God works in the lives of our children.
