Maintaining a relationship past the 'honeymoon' period takes a bit more effort, but keeping that spark alive is what it takes to make a relationship remain romantic.

How do you keep that special spark in a relationship, that feeling when your heart misses a beat, and when your mind inevitably works it’s way back to the last special moment you spent together, just you and your sweetheart.
The key to keeping love intoxicating is to make every date a romantic rendezvous, and here’s how to do it.
Whether you’re on a physical date or online, to catch and hold the attention of your special or prospective love-mate, make sure your voice smiles and your eyes sparkle. Smile so your whole face lights up, and it doesn’t matter if he or she can’t see you, the enregy will shine through.
Be the most interesting person at the party or online by asking questions. Keep the focus on the other person, make them feel special. Let them know you’re interested. When you give someone your full attention, there is nothing more appealing!
Many couples think that once you’ve been together for a while the romance doesn’t matter because you’ve moved onto another level of the relationship. Not true, in fact, romance is one of the magic ingredients, which keeps love strong whether you’ve been together 2 days or 20 years.
The romance is what keeps a relationship interesting! It keeps the spark alive, and after all, you loved the romantic side of the relationship when you first got together so why would you want to let it go. Most people love the light-heartedness of a flirtatious romantic moment.
Here are some tips to spark-up, or re-invent the romance in your relationship.
Love notes
Send cards to your lover; post them so they get them in the mail, and send electronic cards, even if you live together or see each other regularly. Or just put one of those little sticky notes in their diary saying, “I love you” or “Thinking of you” or “Have a great day”.
Surprise factor
Plan something that is a surprise, so your partner knows you have gone to the trouble to do something special.
Love is in the details
When you take the time to make sure every little detail is taken care of, the other person can’t help but be impressed.
Flowers
Floral arrangments are always a winner. Sent a single flower with a note saying how much you love or respect them, or just to say thank-you for something you thought was special.
Dinner for two
No friends, kids, neighbors or family – nobody but the two of you! It doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive, unless of course you can afford it and your partner loves fancy, but romance does not have to hurt your wallet. Stay home, take the phone off the hook, have your favourite dinner, light the candles and enjoy each others company.
