YOUR WORLD NEWS DAY 29 APRIL 2014 Kenya [Photo not related to blog story]
President of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta has signed in law approving and legalizing Polygamy in the country of Kenya. Basics of the law will require that the bride must be 18 years of age. The man does not have to have permission to take another wife from his present or first wife; or wives and there is no limit to number of wives he can have. The marriage must be registered the marriage must be between a man and a woman, with one provision permitting an older infertile women to marry a younger woman; and lastly the spouses will inherit 50% of the husband's property. The new law brings back the customary laws of multiple spouses. Spouse under the old custom only received 30% of he husband's properties.
However, many Christians do not agree with the new law legalizing polygamy saying it is against their moral and civil law of God that a man should have only one wife. In addition, many first spouses of MP's did not agree with dismissing their approval of taking another spouse without their permission. Also the pay bride ban was not dropped, but the 18 year age requirement remains with the law.
Q-Q "Trouble waters might stir for a man with too many of good wives..." I really think so. WATCHING

I hear that! If he's going to take another wife, the first wife needs to know about it. Also the increase from 30% to 50% is an improvement as well as the wives need to be 18 at least.
Future wives of polygamy may want to reconsider jumping the broom with a man who does this practice. . Hmmm? "Sound like some fights may occur." Brawls even!!
Thank you Robert! Yes, I am aware that polygamy is quite the normal in tribes of Africa and Africa's societies. A custom very old. I am sure they may have never heard of JUMPING THE BROOM, in Kenya-- which is quite a NORMAL saying here in the South were I live. It's not uncommon at all to hear it spoken however, the actual "act of jumping the broom" is not often a common practice used. Mostly, that's in Southern slang just refers to getting married. Today, the ritual is said more than couples actually do in action. Wow! Cultures differ, but there will always be similarities and also total differences-- and there are many practices that other cultures have never heard of-- or; is UNHEARD OF. You may understand the way polygamy works more than I and that's alright with me. The topic is Interesting!
