It's a very, very difficult struggle because you still care about your spouse and value your marriage commitment. Unfortunately, it's often one sided and the one who cares the most in the marriage is the one who most likely gets hurt the most. Caring for a spouse who is mentally out there, and suffering with some type of mental illness can be more draining than caring for someone with cancer. Some spouses have sympathy for a spouse that is afflicted, but other spouse’s experience emotions they don’t think they should be having like anger, frustration, and even hatred. When a spouse does something for a mate with a physical illness, they are usually met with gratitude. But people who are lost in their own dark side, often deny their diagnosis, are unwilling to comply with medication, and—worst of all— treat their spouse’s like the enemy. What is the responsibility of the spouse who is afflicted mentally and what is the responsibility of the spouse that is not affected with their particular disease? This show will share powerful tips and tools with couples to aid them in maintaining a healthy relationship rather than a relationship overwhelmed and steered by a particular mental illness.
