Satchel Paige was born in Mobile, Alabama in 1906. He was the son of a gardener and his mother worked as a domestic housekeeper. In his early years Satchel found baseball by leading a life of petty crimes which took to reform school where he actual spent over five years learning baseball as part of his rehabilitation. Later in his early career he joined a team called the Mobile Tigers.
Satchel skills in baseball improved dramatically and he entered in the major leagues of Negro Baseball joining the team of The St. Louis Browns at the ripe age of 42. Often, he was referred as the oldest rookie on the team. Gradually, Satchel lived with finishing out his dream and accomplished much popularity with his famous quotes and famous pitching arm. Making history he was inducted as a member in the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1971. All his hard work and dedication to being his best left fans today to fondly remember.
