FORMER MISS VENEZUELA KILLED WITH TWO SUSPECTS ARRESTED (395 hits)

A former Miss Venezuela of 2004, Monica Spear and her ex-husband Thomas Henry Berry were killed in front of their 5 year old daughter on Monday, January 6, 2014. The couple were shot on a roadside near the main port of Puerto Cabello after returning from a holiday. News sources stated that tragedy was part of outrage that has struck violence of 10 murders going unsolved. Two teen-agers have been arrested for the murders, and at least seven other also were arrested with possible connections. Some other media details of the murders indicated that the family were a target of a robbery as their car hit a sharp object placed on the road, but they acted in the murders after the tow truck arrived and the family locked their doors when the teens attacked firing into the car killing them and injuring their five year old daughter.
Monica Spear was also known from numerous soap operas and her most recent work in Pasion Prohibida from a US based Telemundo network. Condition of the young daughter was not stated, but only that she did survive a gunshot wound. Locals in Venezuela find the growing violence in Venezuela upsetting, and a insisting that the government should do more to initiate a more productive program to control growing murder and violence in their country overall. This latest murders has also prompted attention to the growing violence Venezuela has seemingly kept hidden. Little news of the two suspects has been released, but questioning and investigations are continuing.
