DEAR GARDENERS: IT'S THE LAST SUMMER HOLIDAY...TAKE TO GARDENS GET-AWAYS! (1181 hits)

DEAR GARDENERS
Finale Issue 2013

SEPTEMBER 2013

Hello Dear Gardeners!

Labor Day marks one of the last of Summer's holidays. Yet, you can still take a to garden's get-aways. There are trips to your garden just waiting for you.

I asked a most prospective Secret Gardener about her labors of beauty and she gave me these places she visits in her own garden.

A Trip To Planting For Next Year:

Upon boarding this plane of duties she takes with her bulbs for the next year's bounty of blooms. Planting from the days between September and October she going out with Spring and or Summer bulbs. Tending the landscape of where she wants to see the early bloomers to bring forth after a cold winter's has them snuggled in for the burst of color awaiting a Spring's sun. She gives a saving tip that during the end of summer fertilizers and mulching products run on sale and is an excellent time for purchases. Shop wise for best prices.
In addition, to planting she prepares the bedding by adding soil, or cleaning the area[s] for that special show of plants.

A Trip To Weeding:

On this voyage she takes sail in with cutting and digging tools to snip and cut back or cut off dead growth from summer's foilages and blooming plants. Along with this she makes several days of getting everything downsized and taking out weeds for the last few days of the warth of Indian Summer. There is still time for short trips with regular lawn care and up keep.

A Trip To Mulching:

Constant gardeners like the one I spoke with devotes early Spring to replacing mulch, but she is particular to also mulch during the periods of the last of warm days by replenishing mulch for her several beds of florals. She notes that mulching also protects bulbs which sleep during the cold season. Usually, she recommends that this is done before the cool snap!

A Trip to the Leaves....:

During the early September all the way to the Autumn season trips are made to the leaves. Raking can be as early in September for some garderners. Taking the harvest of the tree fall of leaves can be weekly until trees are bare. With some gardeners who are really smart, it can be every two to three days! Raking leaves can pile up so neglect can leave you a bit "Down-Under" and I don't mean in Australia! Those leaves can leave you with quite a cover.

Don't Forget Those Frequent Flyers:

These frequent flyer trips may include any number of the above mentionables. Since this gardener recommends early planning is best. It's all not meant for a one day excursion! If you have Summer pots with plants you'll need to make sure you take them in before the Frost comes. And for those vegetable gardens, you may find your trips frequent with the treatment of insects and or rodents. You can explore the bountiful harvests of digging, canning and outlines of plans for your vegetables next year. This can also include purchasing seeds, or saving existing seeds as well.

There are plenty places to go in your gardens. Of course, you have moments to relax and still enjoy in between times. Gardens have special places too; sharing joy with God. Can you imagine the sight your eyes can behold! God's beauty and growth right in front of you. I fly frequently to these flights all year around.

So We Have to Say Goodbye.....

This is the finale letter for 2013. We have had a really wonderful season. And with you here, I feel right at home. So we have to say goodbye to the Dear Gardener's letters for a little time. I'll write you in March 2014. But in thoughts, you'll be in my my mind and within my heart.

Special thanks to my Secret Gardener for her tips! Without her; I couldn't of written most of this letter!

So tell me how does your gardens grow?

I'd surely like to know..

Mine grows with

LOTS OF LOVE
