Prince Johan Friso died on Monday, August 12, 2013 after never recovering from complications from a ski accident. The Prince was injured in the accident on February 17, 2012 while vacationing in Austria. The injury caused by an avalanche which buried him in snow for over 20 minutes and resulted in brain injury according to his physicans. The Prince was treated in a London hospital for a period of 1 year and was discharged in July 2013 to his palace home, The Hague where he was treated for medical care and hospice. The Prince's brother is Willem-Alexander, King of the Netherlands, Prince Friso is the second son Queen Beatrix. He was 44 years old, married with two daughters ages seven and eight.
