What has gone-around will come-back-around again, as they say. Harlem has also been the Mecca of glamour, beauty, and style for generations and generations. This year’s fall makeup screams 1960’s Harlem. There will be an explosion of vibrant color. Peaches are paired with shades of greens, purples, and pinks. And all things old will be revamped Harlem style.
1. When it comes to Harlem fashion, prints are this year’s trend, the bolder the better. Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and Fashion on the Hudson has already shown us psychedelic, monochromatic, camouflage, color blocking, and animal prints paired with bold accent colors. Even the classics like soft leather, ruffles & Charlfont are amped up, as this season is all about self expression. This year’s makeup will be the cherry on top, if you will.
2. Expressing lips with vivid reds and pinks will make those lips pop. And don’t be afraid to use ****s!
3. Cheeks are **** with a bronze or gold tint. For more dramatic cheeks, mix! Use a rose & pink or orange & rose blush blend. Blending blushes are fun, and it gives off a unique hue.
4. When shadowing the eyes, have fun but don’t overdo the smokey eye. Using purples and grays (purple shadow around the eyelids and gray shadow near the tear ducks) give that electrifying affect. Adding just a little white shadow under the brow area, will give the eyes a more dramatic appearance.
5. Always remember to start with a clean and moisturized base. Pamper yourself with a facial and use a foundation that isn’t heavy on the skin. Then, apply concealer under the eyes to enhance and cover any imperfections. Accentuate the bridge of the nose and at the corners of the eyes for a well rested look.
Follow these tips and let the compliments fly. The streets of Harlem, USA will be your runway!
