CHRISTIANS THAT CURSE: CONTROLLING ONE'S SPEAKING (1037 hits)
During a recent reading I came across an article in Christianity Today. The articled focused on the words of profanity that comes from Christians when they are speaking and or talking. The article was trying to understand why would such words of profane come from those who are supposedly be following words that are in a mind way not profane at all. Generally, there were no definitive answers except an analysis-- it was an individual choice of the person to speak that way. By not being one to judge, the person who cursed may have not been fully aware of their cause other than expressing the emotional thought of that moment.
Many people every day use profanity. They say and speak it openly foul words; and do not use any common respect of it to any person. This is also true with respect to being one who follows the commandments of God. Every person is in charge of their actions, which may mean some Christians need more work in controlling what they speak in order to make good examples of God's people and Christ like manners. Examining oneself and sharpening the bad habits of an old life will also need to examined and corrected. The time one uses to curse can become the time one uses to praise. It is a focus to improve and leave out the old ways of the world and allowing the new ways of Spirit become controlling the tongue.
Observation is duly concerned, whether one may be Christian or followers of any Religion which involves serving and worshipping God. There is common interest that what one speaks is a reflection of what they may be following; and in all respect God's name should be held in reverence. This may be a speculative indication that control of what is being said shows lack of control of one's tongue.
Interestingly, this article encouraged me, although I do not practice uses of profanity; that I would think twice of person who has a foul mouth; and that the person may want to think before speaking bad language; yet giving way instead to practice good words and speak without using the words in a profane language.
ONES WORDS SHOULD SPEAK OF GODLY THINGS AND DISDAIN BAD LANGUAGE.
I have an occasional slip or two myself which I ask forgiveness for. In fact, it's understandable that persons who used bad a language before their religious conversion would also be tempted to do so even afterwards; it s in my case. We all have weaknesses and for these reasons we need the Holy Spirit.
Spoken so truly. We do have to ask forgiveness; and I'm not casting stones to condemn, but just giving a reminder we have God's Holy Spirit to help us; and to be willing to do much better each time we speak or stray away. We do indeed require the Lord in every word we say; in order so that the Holy Spirit will speak through and for us. Thanks Jen.
