DID YOU FORGET IT'S THE NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER? (575 hits)

YOUR NATIONAL NEWS
MAY 2013
DAY 2
Washington, DC

AMEN.

Thousands across America didn't forget. Congregations and churches all across the country did send prayers, cards, and well wishing in form of prayers and services. Although this very National Day of Prayer has had it's controversy to become an official day to commemorate it has the proclamation to be celebrated by the U.S. Government. By Congressional decree the day is official and is honored as the first Thursday of May. Speaking of the national day President Obama has allowed like previous presidents the day continuance, however, he didn't allow the day's observance to be held in the White House like George W. Bush. However, he does encourage the NDP find other locations to apply prayer services of the National Day of Prayer. Of course, when it comes to separation of church and state, prayers and proclamations will have pro's and con's among those who may or may not feel the day is merited as one the government should give any proclamations at all.

So those who forgot, well you can remember that prayers national and global can be celebrated everyday.

We Watch and PRAY
~0_0~

"All of us have the freedom to pray and exercise our faiths openly. Our laws protect these God-given liberties, and rightly so. Today and every day, prayers will be offered in houses of worship, at community gatherings, in our homes, and in neighborhoods all across our country. Let us give thanks for the freedom to practice our faith as we see fit, whether individually or in fellowship.

"On this day, let us remember in our thoughts and prayers all those affected by recent events, such as the Boston Marathon bombings, the Newtown, Connecticut shootings, and the explosion in West, Texas. Let us pray for the police officers, firefighters, and other first responders who put themselves in harm's way to protect their fellow Americans. Let us also pray for the safety of our brave men and women in uniform and their families who serve and sacrifice for our country. Let us come together to pray for peace and goodwill today and in the days ahead as we work to meet the great challenges of our time."
