Howard University Chosen as Joyner Foundation School of the Month in March (4399 hits)

Howard University will be recognized by the Tom Joyner Foundation as the organization's School of the Month for March.

The Foundation, formed by the nationally syndicated radio personality, chose Howard as part of its ongoing effort to help Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) raise money to keep students in college. The Joyner Foundation’s assistance comes amid a major fund-raising push at Howard to raise $25 million for scholarships in the Bridging the Gap Student Aid Campaign. As the School of the Month, Howard will be promoted on the Tom Joyner Morning Show and receive funds raised from listeners. In the month of March, four Howard students will be announced as winners of the foundation’s Hercules Scholarship.

The Tom Joyner Foundation was founded in 1998 as the brainchild of nationally syndicated radio personality, Tom Joyner. The foundation supports HBCUs with scholarship, endowment and capacity building enhancements. Through fundraising and donor development initiatives, $60 million has been raised to support more than 25,000 students attending HBCUs. Additionally, the Foundation has recommended internships, matching grants support, and career development to deserving students.
