THE WORD FOR TODAY IS "LOVE"...DO WE REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT IT IS? (2684 hits)
Peace,
I was in a online discussion with some Pan-Africanist students and we were all discussing the meaning of love. We have all said (and heard) the words "I love you" at some time in our lives. We say it to our parents, aunts, uncles, children, girlfriend, boyfriends, spouses, and so forth and so on. I have begun to ask myself, what are people really saying when they say "I Love You"?
Therefore I pose the following questions:
1. How do you define love? Is it something you do - "make love", or something you say, "I love you", or is it an invisible feeling?
2. When you use the word love, what do you really mean and do you truly know what you mean?
3. Is love high fiving everyone who agrees with you and with whom you agree with?
4. Is it lack of love to challenge someone or to confront them about something rather than let it slide?
5. If you use the term "love" to refer to s*xual relations only, what kind of love is made through the s*x act? Isn't love supposed to last longer than 10-15 minutes of your life?
I have much to say about the topic, but I'll keep it short and to the point as to not overwhelm anyone. Here are my answers:
1. How do you define love? is it something you do - "make love", or something you say, "i love you", or is it an invisible feeling?
To me love is more than a feeling. I believe It Can Be An ACTION and EXPRESSION in addition to being a FEELING. Love requires the ability to do something...even when you don't feel like it at times. Love is only manifested when 2 or more things are involved in some kind of relationship. You can't love unless there is something or someone to relate to. How can you love if there's nothing to express that idea you feel?
2. When you use the word love, what do you really mean and do you truly know what you mean?
Well we all have experienced childhood crushes or what some elders would refer to as "puppy love." But as you get older and go through the hell of relationships that produce some amount of idea of love you finally understand that you have to earn it and you have to give it as well you need it.
3. Is love high fiving everyone who agrees with you and with whom you agree with?
Emphatically no...that's the same as kissing ass (LOL).
4. Is it lack of love to challenge someone or to confront them about something rather than let it slide?
When we find others in error it is the duty as a caring individual to correct that person. But in order to get the best results, your posture must be at neutral or zero. Meaning you can't bring your preconceived ideas "IN" with you and expect to come "OUT" right.
5. If you use the term "love" to refer to s*xual relations only, what kind of love is made through the s*x act? Isn't love supposed to last longer than 10-15 minutes of your life?
One of the most common mistakes people make is confusing s*x with love. s*x is not love, when people engage in s*x they would love to share some pleasure with that person...set off some fireworks maybe(LOL)? But s*x in and of itself is not love, and if it is love it sure doesn't last very long. Love is supposed to last longer than 10-15 minutes of your life.
Thank you Mom and I love you too. (smile)

Here is a passage from an old self help book I've read. It has no cover so I can't say what the name of the book is. It states that "Given the proper suggestion, the Subconscious Mind will manifest love from hatred, success from failure, health from disease, prosperity from poverty, and friendship from loneliness and isolation. For nothing is impossible to the Subconscious Mind since it operates entirely by suggestion.

Love requires the ability to do. Example:
If a parent really loves their children (babies), they will do things that are necessary to make sure that the child knows that he or she is loved. The parent must provide their son or daughter with more than the basic necessities of food, clothing, and shelter. In truth the parent should do what is required of them to make sure that the child has the best of what is necessary, the best clothing, the best shelter...
Love is also being in harmony with the spirit of God and His creation. Example:
Adam and Eve WERE of love until they fell, then love was no more. They were no longer in harmony with God and His creation.
So love (to me) is our whole being tuned in with the spirit of God and His creation (earth, wind, fire & water) + (mind, body and soul) living by nature in which we are created. Love cannot be touched, smelt, shortened, lengthened by this world. It is something that has to be LIVED.

YOU CANT BUY IT AND YOU CANT EARN IT, YOU GIVE IT AND RECEIVE IT, ITS SUPPOSE TO BE UNCONDITIONAL BUT ,,,,,,,,, Love
0001. Every teardrop is precious so better make sure that if you drop some, it’s worth crying for you can never pick them up and put them back to your eyes.
0002. Learn to appreciate the rainbow after cursing the rain. It’s just like loving again after experiencing the pain.
0003. Never expect love to always be at its best cause if you do, you’ll never learn to appreciate its existence.
0004. Don’t force yourself to fall in love just because you think it’s your turn. Wait for a while, maybe cupids are having a hard time searching for the heart that deserves the kind of love you can give.
0005. To reach for another is to risk involvement, to expose your feelings is to expose your true self, to love is to risk not to be loved in return.
0006. Words and hearts should be handled with care for words when spoken and hearts when broken are the hardest things to repair.
0007. Love doesn’t count on the laughter that you shared but on the pain and tears you tried to get over with just for the sake of holding on.
0008. Telling someone how you feel does not hurt as much as not saying anything at all to that someone who is deeply in love with you.
0009. You can close your eyes from the things you don’t want to see but you can never close your heart from the things you don’t want to feel.
0010. No love can hurt as much as the love that can never be and no thought can hurt as much as the thought of a love that could have been.
0011. Remember that the more we try to forget someone we love, the more painful letting go will become.
0012. The greatest pain in life is to be ignored, to lose the person you love to someone who doesn’t care at all.
0013. Be careful to whom you give your heart because when you give your heart to someone, you’re not only giving that person the right to love you back but also the power to hurt you.
0014. If you think it’s time to let go, then just let go. There’s no point in looking back to what you have already lost.
0015. It is tough to stay single in this world where everybody expects you to be with somebody. What they fail to realize is that staying single is not about having no choice. Rather, it’s an opportunity to make intelligent choices.
0016. Just when you think things can't get any worse, they do. I've learned that life is like an hourglass. Sooner or later, everything hits rock bottom. All you have to do is be patient and wait for someone to turn everything back around.
0017. The reality of the other person lies not in what he reveals to you but in what he cannot reveal to you. Therefore, if you want to understand him, listen not to what he says but to what he does not say.
0018. The heart is the center of our chest but it beats at the left side. I guess that’s the reason why the heart isn’t always right.
0019. When you make decisions, follow your heart and not your mind. For if your mind’s decision fails, you regret. But if your heart fails, you just smile and say, “Nice try.”
0020. Happiness lies in those who cry, those who have been hurt, those who have searched and those who have tried. For only they can appreciate the importance of people who have touched their lives.
