Mary Mary Heads Back to Reality TV --WEtv (546 hits)
Erica and Tina Campbell, the award-winning gospel duo known best to fans as Mary Mary, had a successful run with their self-titled reality show on WEtv last year. So of course they’re back with season two on Thursday night at 9 p.m. This episode finds them in a very familiar place – the Red Velvet Cake studio of the Tom Joyner Morning Show doing an In-Studio Jam to promote their latest album “Go Get It.”
During the episode, entitled “The Showdown,” tensions surface between the sisters and their manager, Mitch. Erica has a 4-month-old and Tina is eight months pregnant, complicating the sister’s work lives especially when they’re asked to do a soundcheck in the wee hours of the morning.
Mary Mary are up for nine Stellar Awards so it’s convenient that they are also the show’s hosts which takes place on January 19th. (They received two Grammy noms as well.) If that wasn’t enough, the duo is looking for the next award-winning singers by promoting the “Singing Spotlight” contest.
The grand prize winner receives a 3-day-trip to L.A. to record with Warryn Campbell and get some advice and coaching from Mary Mary and their manager. All aspiring singers have to do is upload 60-90 seconds of themselves singing one of three Mary Mary songs. The winner will be announced on the season finale of “Mary Mary.”
