CONTRACEPTION PILL IS SWAYING TO SELL OVER THE COUNTER

The nation’s largest group of obstetricians and gynecologists says that birth control pills should be sold over the counter. This brought a surprise to many in the medical community as experts of OB/GYN felt that since there other conception devises like c*ndoms and the morning after pills are sold, birth control pills should not be limited to prescriptions and more accessible to the consumer. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists declares that it’s safe to sell the pill over the counter. The entire focus of over counter sales of the pill addresses often yearly or annual scheduled visits to fill birth control prescriptions is not required. In addition since birth control are normally not a health threat, mainly only on major side effect of causing blood clots is very rare. The group made it clear that women can easily tell if they have risk factors such as smoking or having a previous blood clot and should avoid taking the pill if they are pregnant. Another insight was the women not requiring a pap smear or pelvic exam in order to take the pill. The group also would consider that women or younger girls would need to be at least 17 years or older to take the pill. This is a new idea which may require ruling in Washington, but the group and researchers deem confident it would not cause any more harm than any other birth control prevention medications.
