We are now accepting applications for the 2013 REIDS Summer Institute. APPLY NOW! (3539 hits)

The Research Education Institute for Diverse Scholars (REIDS) program was designed to meet the challenges and barriers experienced by groups who are underrepresented in the field of HIV research. Fellows are expected to attend a six-week Summer Institute for two consecutive summers and will receive sustained mentorship for two full years from an interdisciplinary team at the Institute for Community Research (ICR), the Center for Health, Intervention and Prevention (CHIP) at the University of Connecticut, the Yale School of Nursing, and the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS (CIRA) at Yale.

Successful applicants will receive:

Up to $500 for round-trip travel to New Haven;
A $5,000 stipend for living expenses. NOTE: Fellows who are funded through an NIH or Foundation institutional training grant are not eligible for the stipend but may receive a per diem food allowance;
Fully-subsidized accommodations (lodging); and,
The opportunity to apply for up to $20,000 in pilot project funding.

Applicants must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent and hold a post-doctoral or early-career faculty position while affiliated with the REIDS program. Scholars are expected to have advanced preparation in theory-based research and content in a health-related discipline, research design and data analysis, and a demonstrable commitment to addressing HIV/AIDS disparities. Prior experience conducting an independent research project beyond the dissertation is desirable. Applicants will be drawn from underrepresented racial, ethnic, disabled and economically disadvantaged groups. The application deadline is January 4, 2013, for the next Summer Institute which runs from June 3 to July 19, 2013.
