I know it was true in the small town where I grew up in the South. I had my grandmother to drop me off there and the next thing she knew was that I came out with a brown paper bag of supplies. I think I was about 15 years old and didn't ask my mother or anyone for permission. Go figure!!!
According to Catherine Davis, "This has been confirmed in several studies. The first was in 1974, when three college professors came together to see if there was any truth to the claims that were being made that the birth control facilities were being located in urban areas where blacks reside to control the black birth rate. Those professors concluded that race was a factor in the location of the clinics."
