What are You Identifying With? Past Pain or Your True Self? (456 hits)

Sometimes we make identities out of our past setbacks in life, and they become our "pain body."

For the last few years on this blog, we have stressed continuously about the importance of observing your feelings and thoughts without judgement or criticism. This prevents you from holding onto, and attaching to your past unfortunate incidents. The practice is called Mindfulness.

When you are not mindful of your negative thoughts and feelings, they sometimes become your identity, sabotaging your best efforts in life. This is called the pain body.

Eckhart Tolle (author, "Power of Now") describes the pain body as an unconscious set of thoughts and emotions created by experiences that have caused you anger, resentment, fear, jealousy and every other emotion that don't serve you.
