If I asked you to say a prayer about abortion, what would you pray?
Would you pray for the preborn babies and their mothers, who are considering abortion in response to an unexpected pregnancy? Or would you lift up a prayer of thanks for the abortionists who end their babies lives before they have a chance to draw a breath?
I think I know which prayer you would offer to God.
The prayer of "thanks" for abortionists I note here is one of 40 short prayers crafted by a pro-abortion group, Faith Aloud, which promotes "40 Days of Prayer to Keep Abortion Safe and Legal." The group's website acknowledges that abortion can be a "tough reproductive decision," and provides resources like laminated prayer cards and spiritual counseling training for people who volunteer at abortion centers.
Contrast this with the work of 40 Days for Life, a national pro-life effort that has had an astounding impact on abortion-minded women's hearts, reportedly saving more than 700 preborn children. Volunteers with 40 Days for Life in Texas prayed for then-Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson, who eventually resigned her position and now works full-time for the pro-life movement. The fruits of this group's prayer efforts are obvious.

Prayer for the pro-life cause is effective, and an important contribution each of us can make. Each day, women across the nation face tough decisions about unexpected pregnancies. Pro-life prayer efforts support both mother and child, and encourage decisions that are life-honoring to both. The Bible declares that human life is created in God's image, and the sanctity of human life is repeated throughout Scripture.
