On Thursday, September 1, 2011 I asked for a joint session of Congress where I will lay out a clear plan to get Americans back to work. Next week, I will deliver the details of the plan and call on lawmakers to pass it. Whether they will do the job they were elected to do is ultimately up to them. But both you and I can pressure them to do the right thing. We can send the message that the American people are playing by the rules and meeting their responsibilities -- and it's time for our leaders in Congress to meet theirs. And we must hold them accountable if they don't.
So I'm asking you to stand with me in calling on Congress to step up and take action on jobs:
No matter how things go in the weeks and months ahead, this will be an important challenge for our organization. It's been a long time since Congress was focused on what the American people need them to be focused on. I know that you're frustrated by that. I am, too. That's why I'm putting forward a set of bipartisan proposals to help grow the economy and create jobs -- that means strengthening our small businesses, giving needed breaks to middle-class families, while taking responsible steps to bring down our deficit. I'm asking lawmakers to look past short-term politics and take action on that plan. But we've got to do this together. I will deliver this message to Congress next week, but I'm asking you to stand alongside me today:

i helped start a business over 25 years ago and when I realized; that I could, with MACHINES, do the same business with Trained Engineers and even Doctors in Africa and Middle East---and pay those engineers and doctors - 10% - of what I would have had to pay an obstinate American worker----guess what I did what the big American businesses did..........
so Americans, and Our Leader President Baraaka Hussein Obama knows will have higher unemployment rates from NOW on............

I beg your pardon? I would do what is necessary rather than complaining about how bad it is out there. People who don't want to work minimum wage should go to a polytechnical college and take up a practical trade if they don't want to do the work of someone who is willing to work minimum wage. That was my point. People need to get up and make something happen for themselves.
People in third world countries don't have such luxuries as we have here and they are very resourceful from planting their own vegetable gardens to making things to sell. I don't have anything much of any good to say about Unions except they may be able to keep people from being fired today. The unions of long ago when first created did more to help make things better for workers.
Case in point, I'm a member of a lousy union that manages to get nurses pay increases so that they (union) can raise our union fees. What of better working conditions for nurses, safer work loads, and fair treatment by those in mgmt. People are such cry babies in this country. Get out and make something happen legally.
@Jen : The President leadership qualities and professional skill will prevail and cover him... any frustrations other politicans throw out he'll be able to fend out. Executing well I believe he's has the testing and the final grade to pass.
I think that you make a good point. President Obama is up for the task and will succeed at getting his agenda up and running. I for one will be listening for what he has to say about Green Energy.

Don't put words in my mouth because I said nothing about unions in regards to Black people or Purple or any other Color of people for that matter. I also want to clarify that I didn't sign up with the union but they signed me up because it was their rule if I wanted to work at the particular facility.
President Obama has EVERY right to be pissed. Now, to be clear, it is unfair to blame Presidents and labor unions exclusively, just as it is unrealistic to give them full credit, when the economy tanks or booms.
Unemployment is through the goddamn roof here in America especially for blacks, Obama has NOTHING TO DO with the unemployment rate, especially only being in office for 2 years! Unemployment in america is at 9% which is far lower than 30%, and Obama had NOTHING TO do with it! He is actually CREATING jobs....but a hater perceives NOT!

@Clark (so good to see you and that angle on your shoulders. smile) so correct on what you say about outsourcing which is why I am so grateful for Romney being in the race and hopefully he will remain in long enough for him to have to explain beyond his talking points how he spent his business career racking in SSSmillions for out sourcing jobs among many things taht has to do with this right-wing out cry for less to no regulations also. ...OH, I mantioned lead in toys because lead in producats especially any and all things that can go into a small child's mouth has been banned in the U.S.A. since the 60s...and, the very idea of child in sweat shops makes my blood boil and to hear a mother saying this is perfectly alright makes it even that much more worst ...please note, I speak only fo rmy self knowing the same poisons that these workers end up being taken to haopitals working out there in these foods sprayed these producats are also banned from crop dusters being within so many distance from schools still travel to them because of something called WIND...another thing many are upset with unions for fighting against this as to not spray will cost big business......not to worry because I always leave when I get upset at ow happyl we work against our children in thename of greed and good will......(nup!!!)

@Jen, if you missed the debates tonight, not to worry as you have not missed any thing, actually I turned from it it had gotten so bad, uninteresting and out of control like an all man for themselves going no where fast.
It was so embarrassing, I just truned it off.
I know our president will make up for it tomorrow.
We will all see someting we have never seen before in the actions of a 'living' president...and just remember my always saying when 'we forget the past, we are doomed to repeat it". Tis will be our president doing a FIRST. "I" am sure he will not let us down at all.
The right has put themselves in such a bind, there is no way they can get out of this one coming now from the president...emotion is only for short term pleaseure and long term pain...the Republicans and the TEapartywill maybe not beleive in evolution, but those who specialize in only one thing as hey do using only talking points will go extinct during our president's speech 9-8-11...
