Be Free of Envy and Jealousy ... Read on now for your blessing ... (877 hits)

1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 – And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. Be at peace among yourselves.
I'm sure you have all heard of the term 'green with envy', and know that it relates to being envious of people and what they have that you would like. Most of us will have had that problem from time to time. Everyone is plagued by it at one time or another. But I want to ask you now, "What about envy in spiritual things? Are you envious of another believer because the Lord has given them a greater ministry than what you have? Are you jealous because someone else has the type of ministry that you have wanted to be used in?"

This is not a good position to be in, but I can understand where you are coming from if you're feeling like this right now. Every person on this earth has a need for acceptance and recognition, and a lot of the time people minister to get that need met, so that others will think they are wonderful and used of the Lord, and they will be recognized by them. It is often subtle and people don't even realize they are doing it.

But you know the Scriptures speak about esteeming or lifting up others for the work's sake. This is the attitude that you should have to your fellow believers, not one of being jealous because of another person's ministry. If you can come to the place where you are able to lift them up and encourage them, and speak blessing on them because of what they are doing for the Lord, it will set you free. Do you know why?

Firstly, you will be humbling yourself before the Lord, and He is the one who will lift you up. He does not want you to try and exalt yourself. He wants to do it for you. As you maintain a humble attitude and let Him use you as He wants to, you will find that He will suddenly lift you up and get you to the frontline, and often when you least expect it or desire it. You need to learn to let your desires go and bless others in ministry before this can happen.

Secondly, He knows your desires for ministry. In fact, very often, the very things that you desire to be used of by Him are what He has put in you already, and He is getting you prepared for it. So there is no need to be jealous of a fellow worker and what they are doing. If you maintain the right attitude He will be able to raise you up to be the same and even greater than the person you want to be like!

So in conclusion, keep your attitude right. Keep humble, bless other workers and do not try and exalt yourself. As you do this the Lord will bless you abundantly, release on you your heart's desire, and exalt you at the same time. It may take a bit of time to come to manifestation, but keep going because a wonderful blessing is on it's way to you, and the Lord will use you above what you thought you were able to do!

Jen...we should be very careful to not follow envy..when it can lead to hate and then of course even extreme situations murder.
Thanks for reminding me to examine myself inside to deter such a principle of destruction to me and or to others I could find ways to produce "the green-eyed monster."

Hello to All,

It is shocking that you all could be so self righteous. Let me explain myself.

Ms. Jen said this, "Are you envious of another believer because the Lord has given them a greater ministry than what you have? Are you jealous because someone else has the type of ministry that you have wanted to be used in?"

But at the same time Ms. Jen would delete spiritual things I say that goes against what she says. She does this only because she is envious of the ministry that God has given me for all 41 million Black Americans and she cannot top my ministry if you will.

On the other hand, Ms. Shields you are a more stable woman than Ms. Jen is since you do not delete. Instead, you intelligently contend with your opposition as God contented with the devil in the book of Job. Am I explaining myself correctly?

Ms. Jen is a phony and she has a fall way to go to better herself.

Incidentally, as I said before the Bible including 1 Thessalonians 5: 12-13 is the Jewish and European gentiles' testimony to the world of God relationship with them. Their testimonies are not our testimony. I see no way that you could disagree with me

I said before and I will say it again that the Bible is not Black America's religious book of guidance since we are not the people that wrote that book describing God relationship with them. Our time will come that we will right of God relationship with us. Am I making any sense?

Tell me what you think.

Thanks Miisrael for your comments to this blog and you are always welcome. I find that as this nation leans more on Captalism and the ideas that go with it, it pretty easy to get mixed up with what the "Jones' are doing". When I'm taking my walk, I notice that yards and lawns look similar and there is nothing necessarily wrong with that, but one has to wonder if their is envy somewhere in there.

There is this person that I work with from time to time whom I tried to help get a position on my unit by giving her resume' to my manager at her (the colleague's request rather than my offer initially). Needless to say, she didn't get the job but I recently let her know through the gravevine there may be other openings. This woman asks me if this means that I will be working more? What? Then she goes from that to asking me if I will be adding another addition to my family because its not good for a child to have no other siblings.

I had to stop her and let her know that she need not be jealous of my situation when she then says that she isn't jealous, " She evies me." It's probably good that she didn't get hired. Perhaps my manager picked up on her "nasty" attitude. Hmmmm???
