In September 1991, at the young age of 34, I was a married mother of three young boys working as a respiratory therapist. It was on a Saturday morning as I was sitting on the top bleacher watching my nine year old son play football. My husband, James, and other two sons were out on the field.

Thanks so very much for posting this because this was a classic heart attack with all the symptoms, but because of Paula's gender she was brushed off and sent home. She could have died at 34 years old, but thankfully she is still her to tell her testimony! Praise God. I'm going to print this and share it with my colleagues in the CCU and on the Cardiology Ward.

@ Nona, Absolutely lives will be saved. I make it my business to speak to and educate women admitted to my unit with vague atypical chest pain symptoms about heart disease. Many come in with fatigue and gastric/stomach upset but when all the blood work comes back it shows that they've suffered heart attacks. Many are shocked, but thankfully we do what is needed and educate them so that they can do some more living.
