The Montgomery, Alabama " Bus Boycott Kid" meets'Bill O'Reilly-Campaign'-to appearon my Show! (376 hits)
www.youtube.com/AttorneyCharles Morgan,'atimetospeak'. Revisit of the Birmingham 16th Street Baptist church bombing, September 1963, one child whose father I knew- met after this tragedy-and 4 young little black girls were killed-lives snuffed out instantly, while they were reading their Sunday school Bible lesson ("Thou shalt not kill"???).
Why on earth, would I even think of such an odd notion, one might ask? Because I need answers as to why some modicum of civility cannot be returned to our nation during this caustic, troublesome period in this 'once-greatest' of nations' history, especially in a mid-term election year. Surely, we should consider being more tolerant of anothers different view point, less pugilistic than the attached video scene, which was not too terribly long ago, in one ghastly sense.
And 'that time' was not too terribly long ago, maybe making its insidious return as America witnesses deeper and more acrimonious stresses, as in home foreclosures, upside down mortgages or mortgages "underwater", along with unemployment-always a threat to maintaining home ownership.
It was a time of failing hopes, despair, and distress for people of color. I know and lived through them with my family, others of my race. It, those times, this bombing-there were others-in Birmingham, race riots, fire hoses, police dogs, all these incidents, having the effect of motivating me to strive with more 'Zeal", to live my life with purpose until having attained equality i.e, "equal opportunity", I felt duty-bound not to mistreat my fellow man, being tolerant all the while mindful we were in many minds, Animal or worse-lower class citizens(if there could be such a category of 'class' in America???
Here are my final points and feel free to comment after examining the merits of this, I don't think will 'EVER' happen scenario:
1.In hope the media will quit roiling this regrettable segment of 'The View' incident before us night and day, 24/7, let let my show have, Whoopi and Joy as guests, along with Bil 'O' of course. Topic to be announced!
2. It would give the 'The View' show a different 'face', add a little humor to the American political and economic landscapes. This could begin the healing process urgently needed on so many fronts in America- post haste!
3. Finally for the sake of this satirical discussion, to see how or have Bill O'Reilly run me off my own show stage, when I invited him as guest run, incenses me to the point, I storm off my own show's stage-in a huff. Off the stage because we had such strong, differing points of view: The Montgomery Bus the Montgomery Bus Boycott was wrong-it "broke the Law" the 'law', Jim Crow's, in spite of the higher moral, ethical and segregated seating on buses presented. Both sides having opposite positions, the interview was terminated in a less than professional manner. the sides, because of their strong intolerant positions could not agree amicably, whether the Montgomery Bus Boycott should have taken place in Montgomery, Alabama December 1955, when the United States Supreme ruled against the city of Montgomery: Segregated seating on 'city' buses was UNCONSTITUTIONAL!.
This time Whoopi becomes peacemaker, as Barbara Walters tried on that fateful show's airing) (sorry, Joy), As Bill ' O', Joy, and the "Boycott Kid" exit the stage, whoopi frantically pleading for my not being regarded as one celebrity having disdain for one of the most treasured freedoms in all the earth- that of the right to express my own opinion.
Think it over Ms. Goldberg , I have watched and admired your talent, as displayed in, "The Long Walk Home"-reminiscent of my 93yr old mother's almost EXACT role in the actual Montgomery Bus Boycott decades ago.
But then again, not that long ago and we must never forget "All God's Children Are still not equal(i .e., having equal opportunity-there are a variety of reasons-witness the housing foreclosure crisis). Make us all at least proud, Ms. Goldberg. Let my imaginary 'show's audiences-aired 'around the globe' know you care about our precious Bill of Rights-the envy of the world. And Welcome to "Montgomery Bus Boycott Kid's" show, where all are treated equally.
We can never forget Selma, Birmingham, Memphis, Montgomery, on and on. Remember my family was there (we) still hear the screams, yells of hatred, those unkind names being hurled at us from the throngs. Hostile crowds who could intimidate, even had the power to take innocent lives.
Dr. King-oh, the dignity, class, style and poise- can you see him urging the marchers to go forward in the midst of the violence, but having no violence in their hearts as they went...
Sure cannot imagine a scenario, unless it was imminently life-threatening-storming off talk shows-that would evoke Dr. King's leaving his own show. Bill 'O' looked pretty good, still does, and with Barbara in his corner, defending his right to express an opposite point of view.???
In the main? We did overcome just as he said we would. How can we forget his words for intolerance? not to be named among the downtrodden members of his race?
Disclaimer: This is an imaginary scenario I have fashioned in my mind, having not watched the show's episode when originally aired, but many replays. I feel I know Mr. O'Reilly's deep disregard for racial hatred and discrimination-no matter from whence the source. And nothing to the contrary is to be implied or understood from that intended to be understood and expressed or on the part of this supposition as meant by this writer and author.
