When asked this question, my initial response was yes, absolutely, positively so. How would you answer that question?
After some further thinking, I realized that my position and posture are important elements in reaching my success. My quick summation says that if I'm somewhere over in left field and blinded by trivial stuff while traveling in the opposite direction, then my answer would have to be "no". It became quite clear that 3 key things must occur before I can say that my success is within my reach.
Key 1: How do I define success? Until I understand this and am clear about its definition, it will be difficult for me to recognize when I've reached that mark. Success can be elusive when we are unable to clearly define its true meaning.
Key 2: Stop coveting the success of others. This thinking comes from a “lack of” mentality. The child-like habit of desiring the other child’s toys still follows us all the way to adulthood. I was reminded yesterday at the "Get Motivated Event" that true success means different things to different people. It is easy to desire what others have or long to be like them, but the question is will it bring you joy.
Key 3: Discover your purpose and you will discover your success. Living and working from your purpose is the driving force behind success. It is never too late to search for your purpose. God has gifted us with a specific role. The size of the role is insignificant because each role has an important part to play. It is our responsibility to know what that role is so our lives will play out differently.
Your success, whatever it may, is clearly within your reach. Apply these three keys and watch how things get shifted into their right positions and only then you can experience contentment and joy.
Thanks again for this blog Sister Thorpe and you are so right about its never being too late to find our purpose. After almost two decades, I'm doing what I should have done years earlier... finding my purpose by going back to get my graduate degree!!
