This is from a Blog I did in 2008, my first in fact on Black Planet, yes it's still there :). As I read it I decided to repost it everywhere I am so that I can share this message with you. Enjoy and Heed! It's up to us! No matter where we've been, what we've done, how we've been treated, or where we've gone... at the end of the day it is US who make the difference.
In this brief moment in time we have here, we have to make the most of it. Impacting the lives of those we are blessed to be related to and or associated with, daily! Always looking for ways to bring a smile to someone's face/day.
Now, that doesn't mean we should live our lives for others. In fact, unless we are priority #1 second only to God, we won't be able to effect the lives of others. The bible says to love your neighbor as you love yourself, so before you can love me you have to love you.
Admire yourself for all that you have accomplished, yes, you have done some amazing things! Look at where you are today, you may have never thought you could get past the hard times you had... but YOU did it! Take inventory of your successes, no matter how small and your love for you will increase moment by moment. Look in the mirror, not at the image staring back at you but, at the person you were made to be, beyond what you see.
Don't allow your past to dictate your destiny! What you have done wrong in the past is not who you are. "It is your resume, not your birth certificate." God says that you are wonderfully and carefully made in His image, after His likeness. You are creative, intelligent, intuitive, compassionate, loving and good. Would God lie to you? (smile) You have to see yourself as God sees you and you will see the world from a different perspective, in a different light. The light of Love.
