What Are Our White Sisters Saying Re:Lebron James & Lindsay Lohan? Have We Created a Narcissistic Generation? (438 hits)
The Boomer Broads have had it with the entitlement and narcissism of today's twenty-somethings. Who's to blame? We are? Whoops! (Is it really partly the parents, the media, and the self indulgent culture we live in that's to blame for these narcissistic generation? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
I think you are right in saying that we as parents are to blame for not providint the filter for our children's young minds when the American culture encourages "Me~itis" and self centeredness. Our children need to understand that they can't have everything and that there are consquences when they always feel they should have their way. Where is the work ethic and sense of responsibility for earning one's keep?
Although I don't tell him not to ask for anything when I go to the grocery store like my mom did with me when I was little, I do tell him that he can't have everything he asks for and try to give him simple reasons for why I won't buy certain things. Although he's five, I say to him at times where is your money? He looks at me wide eyed and bushy tailed. I will try to be a parent to insert boundaries and a safe haven for him.
