WOMEN AND NEW HEALTH CARE BILL OF RIGHTS (104 hits)

new “Patient’s Bill of Rights” that will protect women across the country from some of the nasties insurance post policies:
insurance company practices:

All health plans issued or renewed after September of this year will be prohibited from using lifetime limits
1) No more maximum caps on what they’ll spend on your health benefits over the course of your lifetime).
This is especially important for women with high health care expenses, such as those with disabilities, chronic conditions, or serious illnesses. Annual limits on coverage will also be restricted (i.e. maximum annual caps cannot be lower than $750,000 per year) for most plans starting in September, and then ultimately prohibited by 2014.

All plans issued or renewed after September will also be banned from rescinding or taking away health insurance because of an unintentional mistake made on an application.

HOW DOES THIS AFFECT WOMEN, AND OTHER CONCERNS ABOUT
HEALTH ISSUES, REFERRALS, AND ENROLLEES

New plans issued after September must "Guarantee" that women can access obstetric and gynecologic care directly, without any prior approval or a referral, and that enrollees can choose their own primary care doctor or pediatrician from the plan’s network. This protection ensures that women get the care they need, when they need it, and from a provider of their choice.

2) Most health plans issued or renewed after September are barred from rejecting applications or excluding coverage for children based on their pre-existing conditions.

3) Providing relief and peace-of-mind to mothers and other caregivers of children with disabilities, chronic conditions, or serious illnesses.

THE KNOWLEDGE....NTL WM'S LAW CENTER...I was lucky enough to attend a White House event yesterday where the new Patient’s Bill of Rights was announced. After sharing one heartrending story after another of families struggling to keep their coverage during times of serious illness, President Obama said with no uncertainty “We’re not going back.”

WHAT WAS THE MESSAGE...He was speaking directly to the opponents of health reform who are calling for repeal of the law…and all of its benefits.

WHAT IS BEING MADE...At three months and counting, the health reform law is already making huge strides to repair our broken health system, and to give women and their families access to stable, secure health insurance that they can count on.

MOVING FORWARD...BECAUSE THE PAST ISSUES OF HEALTH CARE WAS MONSTROUSLY FLAWED!
PEACE...GOD BLESS US ALL
AND THANKS YOU THE NATIONAL WOMEN'S LAW CENTER IN WASHINGTON, DC,,,OLD HIGH SCHOOL STOMPING GROUNDS AND FEDERAL EMPLOYMENT EXP.
KNOW WHERE WE ARE NOT GOING...We’re definitely NOT going back!
