JUNE 23, 2010 YESTERDAY TITLE IX CELEBRATION....FOR ALL WOMEN IN EDUCATION, SPORTS, AND OTHER ISSUES THAT WE NEED NOT TO FORGET!!!! LIVING TO TWO DIMENSIONS, THE SPIRITUAL AND THE SOLID WORLD...WE ALL MUST LEARN HOW TO MAKE IT WORK...AND THE CELEBRATATION GOES... by Lara S. Kaufmann, Senior Counsel, National Women’s Law Center Today is the 38th anniversary of the passage of Title IX, the federal civil rights law that bans s*x discrimination in education.
Unfortunately, far too many schools, administrators, teachers, counselors, students, and parents still are not aware of what Title IX encompasses and what they can do to help ensure that all students get equal educational opportunities, regardless of their s*x. That’s why we are so excited to announce the release of our new guide, It’s Your Education: How Title IX Protections Can Help You.
Before Title IX’s passage, fewer than 300,000 high school girls played competitive sports. And now, over 3 million do.
ALL MY 3 DAUGHTERS,,,RAN TRACK AND FIELD, AND WENT TO NATIONAL COMPETITIONS. THE LAST DAUGHTER SWAM ALL HER HIGH SCHOOL YEARS, AND DID HER MAGUM PROGRAM AT COLLEGE, NOW WILL BE AN ARCHITECT. IDILE MIND IS NEVER THE DEVIL'S WORKSHOP!
HOW FAR HAVE WOMEN COME IN SPORTS AND TITLE IX?
We clearly have come a long way, but Title IX’s goal of equal opportunity in athletics remains far from realized.
Too many women and girls are still not being treated fairly by their schools when it comes to sports.
We must continue to work to increase female athletic opportunities in high school, college, and beyond. In its 38 years in existence, Title IX has helped us make great strides, but as we look back on our accomplishments, we must also remember to continue advocating for the right that all girls and women have to equal educational opportunities.
THE SUPREME COURT...IS THIS A WOMAN'S COURT...I SAY YES!
The law of the land is now wondering if women are still needed for the supreme court. engaging in education and advocacy around the confirmation process—because the Supreme Court's decisions involving a host of legal issues have a real impact on the lives of women and their families.
These issues include the constitutional rights to privacy and equal protection under law, statutory protections against discrimination at work and at school, and health, safety, and economic protections. WOMEN, WE ARE ONE, AND WE WILL REMAIN ONE OF MANY IN ALL FIELDS THAT PERTAIN TO WOMEN IN ALL WALKS OF LIFE! WE ARE GODS CHILDREN...BUT MAN'S TRADITIONS HAVE TRIED TO PREVENT EQUALITY!
SUPPORT US...MEN, WE LOVE YOU AND NEVER WILL LEAVE YOU ALONE! PEACE...GOD BLESS US ALL!
I think that women are vital in the society, but one thing I have a problem with is the fine line that we tread with having equality and how it gets blurred with feminist's agenda.
I'm a devout family oriented person who believes that women are the center of the family while the man is the head of it. We must be cautious when getting involved in some of these agendas if they don't match up to what we personaly believe is right for our families.
Thanks again for the great blogs as always!
