First Ever Online Directory of African and African American Baby Names (1035 hits)

BlackBabyNames.org lists nearly 5,000 popular baby names for expecting parents of color. --
-- There are many web sites that showcase popular baby names, but none focus entirely on names for babies of African descent - until now! BlackBabyNames.org was recently launched as the first ever online directory that exclusively lists names for African and African American boys and girls.

Nearly 200,000 babies are born everyday, and of that number at least 25,000 are of some kind of African descent. This site not only helps expecting parents find and choose the right names, but it also helps them to preserve the legacy of their ancestors.

Created by the National Registry of Black Baby Names, the site lists nearly 5,000 popular and distinct names, and beside each name is it's very own unique meaning. The names vary in origin, pronunciation, and style. Some are African, Chinese, French, English, and even Czech.

The site is truly one-of-a kind, and a satisfying answer to what Black parents have been requesting for years.

Hello Ms. Jen,

It is amazing to me how shallow minded we Black Americans are. I have mentioned repeatedly that Black Americans are not African people. I thoroughly explained it that no one said that I was wrong. I said that Black Americans are the people that resulted when English people mostly of British descent bred themselves with the African slaves they brought from the slave traders during the time of slavery.
Yet, you persist in believing that we are African people. What is wrong with you Ms. Jan?

We, as a people do not think at all. We do not try to figure out anything and it is not that we have not the brains to do it. We just do not do it. Why is that in these modern days Ms. Jen?

Another thing about us is that we do not want anything of our own. Why is that so, Ms. Jen?

I will tell you this. God came to me and showed me 41 million dry bones. God asked me, Harry could these bones live? I looked at the bones and saw how try (ignorant and shallow minded) they were. I turn back to God and said, “Only you know, Lord if those bones could live”.

Again this Jen, Black Americans are not Africans. We need our own names. We need our own space on this continent on this earth. We need to desire to have something that we can call our very own. Am I crazy to want for Black Americans the same as what Moses wanted for the children of Israel?

Check this out, I had been talking to a Christian friend of mines at the YMCA today. Incidentally, it does not matter what we say we are, we are 41 million ignorant people, am I right. I am telling you this to illustrate how ignorant of a people that we are because we do not use our brain to figure out things. He (James) was making a point to me that all the prophets came to teach of eternal salvation. He wanted to overshadow my point to accept God or for to become a sovereign people. He said that he did not care about a country. He cared about eternal salvation. Anyway, I quickly said that, Moses did not teach of eternal salvation. God anointed Moses to lead the children of Israel out of bondage and slavery in Egypt.
So, it baffles me that James having seen the story of Moses every year around Easter and does not understand the story.
So, again, I said, Lord only you know if those (Black Americans) dry bones could live. Ms. Jen, are you among those dry bones? Do you understand my metaphor?

Tell me what you think.

Hello to All,

Robert said this, “thank you for great scholarship, a name is as good as gold.”
Now, this comment is a perfect example of what I meant that we, Black Americans do not know how to figure things out as I said in my previous post. Sure, a name is as good as gold, only if the name first describes your race and you as an individual.

For instance, I used the name Mohammed as an example. A person with the name Mohammed would first tell everyone that this person is an Arab and that the person is worthy of praise. That is what the name Mohammed means and we get this meaning from the Arabian people only because it is their name.

I would be is not too far in the future that we, Black Americans are going to become some very intelligent people that the world would be amazed. Right now, it seems very difficult for you all to understand the excellent things that I say about us as a race of people only because you all cannot figure it out. Intelligence and rationale is not one of our disciplines.

Robert cannot figure out that he is not an Arabian man. Ms. Jen cannot figure out that she is a Black American woman. Ms. Jen thinks that she is a Jewish woman and that Jesus the Jewish prophet is her prophet. So, from my inferences and examples it is not hard to understand that we, Black Americans are not intelligent people, am I right. Remember, neither were the Hebrew people until God rescued them from Egypt and extreme ignorance. Today God has begun the rescue operation for us, Black Americans as well.

So far, none of us can figure out that we are not African people, why is that so? It is because we are not very intelligent people. But, our descendents are going to become some very intelligent people.

No one has ever said that I was wrong about anything neither has anyone trumped the things that I have said, am I right.

Tell me what you think.

Hello,

Yes, I was once a baby. Now I am a man and the prophet of all Black Americans.
Likewise, Mohammed was once a baby. Then he became a prophet of all Arabian people.
The same with Jesus. Jesus was once a baby. Then he became the Messiah of all Hebrew people.

Am I making any sense?

Tell me what you think.

Has anyone noticed... What ever contents of a blog anyone posts... Harry is going to find a spin to put on it to start his preaching....
example ((Yes, I was once a baby. Now I am a man and the prophet of all Black Americans. Likewise, Mohammed was once a baby. Then he became a prophet of all Arabian people. ))

I bet if someone post a blog in reference to inventors..... Harry again will come out with... inventing a religion for black folks ....
Again if you come up with a blog on food... Harry will start preaching on eating from the gardens within a portion of land land.....

Hello Cynthia,

I believe that you are taking the wrong approach to me. Everything that I say has meaning. However, is it true that I was once a baby? So, I do not understand your point unless you are just trying to bash me.

Tell me what you think.

Are Kiesha.. and Aisha still popular girl names? I still hear a lot of Jamal's for boys and J's and Tre's for the third generation of nicknames. I think the on-line black baby names is a good idea. However, some of those names I can never pronounce correctly...[Smiles]

Hello Cynthia,

Do you understand what I meant about bashing me since Mrs. Jen has picked up the bashing when she used the phrase, soapbox?

Mrs. Jen is clearly bashing me using the term, “soapbox”.

You have to be very careful about the things you say around Negroes. Around Negroes, you have to say what you mean and mean what you say.

I said this because Mrs. Jen read your post that you were not bashing me, but it did not mean anything to her. So, again you must be careful what you say around Negroes.

Tell me what you think.

PS this comment to Cynthia is an effort of encouraging us to think and figure things out. Am I making any sense with you all? In other words, it should not be difficult to figure out where Cynthia was coming from as opposed to where Ms. Jen is coming from, am I right.

All of you should be grateful that your mother and every one within the sound of the ear did not her first name, MARY,... even Mom's mom was named Mary...and I say allof this, because if you said the name Mary in our small town's gatherings almost everyone would answer you. (smile)...

My middle name is Lee and in the deep south almost all of the females middle name are: sue, may, Lee ...D-U-H . lol (smile)

May these for middle names not even be in teh name books of this century...I love unusual names any way, and, like MIISRAEL, I have no way to be able to pronounce them in the first place, but lov them any way....
