Video: How Cancer Spreads (348 hits)

Cancer spreads — or metastasizes — when cancer cells break away from the original tumor and travel through your bloodstream or lymphatic system to other parts of your body.

This video shows how a type of skin cancer called melanoma can metastasize. Although the appearance of cancer cells and the way they spread varies depending on the type of cancer, the general concepts shown here are useful in understanding how any cancer can spread. Keep in mind that not all cancers metastasize...

good question Clark... I need the answer to that.... I know in my family uteran cancer for the women and prostate cancer in our men.... I say environmental hazards as well as hereditary factors come into play.... Now my oldest brother died from leukemia and the funny thing is .... we do not have those factors in our family.... and too he had a rare blood type... He did not match anyone in our family.... he was B+...

exactly Clark... we live in a live septic pool... everything we eat... breath... meds we take are infested with toxins which our body chemistry has a hard time defeating.... lead... mercury... are just a couple of environmental elements we are exposed on a day t day basis.... we breath mold spores through our air conditioner ventilation systems.... I was reading in my anatomy book... that the body goes through over 100,000 chemical reactions in the body per day.... can you imagine... breathing in gases causes the body to go in a tail spin.... sending out all of those reactors.... it's amazing that these vessels stay afloat for 80+ years... and I told my son.... his generation is the generation where he will see a decline in the life expectancy rating because of the environmental agents we are starting to bring about..... Jamal made this statement to me... in regards to the oil in the gulf... wait until the smell.... he's so true... remember the Planet of The Apes.... Terminator... The Matrix.... Right now I have aa friend who works for NASA... he told me just wait... WE are going to be walking computers... micro chips.... he says that they already have this futuristic robot that will provide all of our medical care.... NO MORE human touch...

Clark have you ever thought about our natural resources we buy.... Water .... Potting Soil.... Fertilizer....

Guys I'm no expert on cancer although I have general knowledge. Cancer (Oncology) is a specialty area which I did an externship for for 3 months one summer and I left that job at end of the summer so deeply depressed that I became a Cardiac Nurse after graduation--never wanted to go into Oncology after that experience because of all the deaths.

1. Can cancer run within families? - Heredity - medical research - Brief Article

..."according to the Mayo Clinic Women's HealthSource. An estimated 1,000,000 new cases of cancer are diagnosed every year. Yet, only five to 10% are considered hereditary. Moreover, having a hereditary predisposition doesn't mean you will get cancer. Often, you can reduce your risk by making healthy choices about diet, exercise, and tobacco use"...
